this is even more difficult as one need to visualize what u want to achieve before shooting.

but make it simple, 1 prime + 1 st shooting is already tricky.
Never challenge myself with that yet, always in comfy level of shooting.

You need to crop each photo by 2/3?
since the objective is to present the final outcome in 3:1 ratio, we need to actually think what can be presented in that ratio or rather fit the subject into that ratio. so by shooting a certain scene, and crop into 3:1 in such a way to present a subject is always not easy.

    Thanks for the explanation.
Let me try to understand... You take a shot using the rules of third so that when you crop it down to 1/3 size, the shot still remains relevant.
    Correct?

    Correct?
imagine u got the below shot.
how to present a nicely cropped photo in 3:1 ratio?
u can choose to crop to your heart, as long as maintaining the ratio and able to present a nice presentable photo. once able to achieve that, u are already another level up -> a thinking photographer.

Whoa.... You guys are really fast!

Ryan, I am interested in your photoshop class!

Anyway, Sungei Buloh always have things to shoot. All year round. Like NovJoe mentioned, the resident Kingfishers can be found right at the main bridge after the visitor center. Little Egrets, Bitterns and Purple Herons are all around the places too.

    Don't like birds? Monitor lizards!

There are plenty of spiders for macro fans too.

So, really no need to call off the outing. We can visit again when the migratory birds are in the house

    What say you, NovJoe?

I would probably crop it as such (while strictly retaining the 1/3 crop of original size of 600x400):

Is this what you mean by a 3:1 ratio crop?

the orig is 3:2 ratio (600/400=3/2).
if u want to achieve 3:1, u can set the crop tool to 300px vs 100px.

yes, u got more or less what i mean. but your crop is 2:1.
try set to the above 300px vs 100px (3:1 ratio)
