I had heard somewhere that Panasonic's warranties are apparently international. Is this true? So if I buy a Panasonic Lumix (looking at the G1) here in Singapore, can I get warranty service for outside of Singapore? Specifically in North America?

I've heard otherwise though, most camera warranties are local to where its bought or the region I think. Not sure, would like to know too, anyone with experience on this?

yes. but to certain country only. you can check from panasonic website on it. can said majority of the country provide international warranty. my previous panasonic buy in Singapore about 5 years ago allow u to have warranty under other country.
my present panasonic camera bought from m'sia, it can be use in Singapore too, which I had verified with panasonic singapore. ![]() |

Yah, I had originally thought otherwise too. Which is why I was intrigued by what I heard. Does anyone have a warranty card on hand that they might be able to check if it says anything? (Perhaps it's only international as in Pacific-Asia?) I left my warranty card for my Lumix FX-520 in Canada so I can't check my self... (ironic since my FX-520 is from Singapore).
I'm going back to Canada at the end of August, so was debating if I should pick up a G1 before I go back, or look for one in Canada when I get back. After conversion and taxes, it seems that the G1 is a little bit cheaper in Singapore, but then was debating if the savings was worth losing the warranty if it's not international... |

I asked my mom back home to see if she could find the warranty card that came with my Lumix FX-520. And apparently from what she read when she found it, the warranty is in fact, international. I've asked her to try to scan and email me the card so that I can read it for myself.
But that's really neat, if in fact it valid internationally. Because then I might as well pick up a G1 while I'm here. |

I got a copy of the warranty card that came with my FX-520, and it states:
So perhaps there are both international warranties and local warranties available, depending on where in Singapore you purchase the camera? I guess, if I end up purchasing the G1 here, I'll see if I can't take a look at the warranty certificate first to see if it's an international one or not. |
