Default Equipment for Portriature

Hi.. what is the first lighting equipment i should get for taking portraits. I would like to take shots such as those similar to the ones done in a studio at my home.

i had used a reflecting umbrella and a studio strobe softbox. I like the effect of the softbox better.
and i recommend u to get bigger softbox, if u shooting wider, i.e half body or more.. recently i like the idea of using by the window natural lighting and fill the other side of the face.. the effect is kinda very natural and soft...

just Google "home studio", "DIY studio" "homemade portrait studio"... etc, you don't have to wait for 6 days to get a reply.

i'm thinking of gettting a sb-800 external flash so can use as off camera flash and can be used with both the umbrella and the softbox...
