Default K20D + Tamron 75-300 RB XFighters

People were using F2.8 primes and zooms and i was using a standard zoom lens so was kinda challenging. The K20D i use TAv mode and on the fly white balance for the shoot. in all, gone quite well with plenty of useable shots to spare.
taken with jpgs only.

Last night was a insane affair with men risking life and limb to entertain the crowds by pulling incredible stunts.

Hosted by Rod Monteiro. I give him full credits since he was the one riling up the crowds.

A few more test-to-the-testicular stunts.

if you guys noticed there is no background...thats just how much air these guys need to pull off these amazing stunts.

While the party was going on...cant help but notice a few things that were present also to make sure all went well.

Fire extinguishers just in case.

Well maintained machines.

A capable crew.

In case anyone was wondering, this is the inside of the ramp.

After everyone left, the cleaners have a hard battle as it was the same throughout the area with litter and cigarette butts.

Overall.. a fun event but with all the smoking and so on going on, dont bring kids. There is also a bag check for crowd safety but oddly enough outside drinks including mineral water is not allowed in. Then i saw the booth that was selling Redbull and water then became obvious.

As for where the crowd went...

Don't mean to be too critical, since those are very challenging conditions to shoot under, but most of the photos seem to be underexposed and out of focus. What ISO were you shooting with?

To me they look more like camera shake than OOF.

you are right on both counts. with this lens and the environment, F8 and 1/25 at iso 1600 with +2 compensation seemed to get the shots. Any faster would have been too dark and any slower for more light would be too blurry.

F2.8 zoom and prime is kinda expensive to get now...i think better to rent a canon/nikon setup for future night action shoots while save up for a 70-200 or better F2.8 lens.

as for the camera shake...i was expecting worse since had to handhold + maintain my position in the crowd but was surprised at the number of okay shots i got.

overall its a pretty good evening.

I think the shots are alright, at that size and for memories of the event. Glad you had fun shooting

go buy a 50-135. lol.

"N" FX cmos sensor plus 70-200VR 2.8 lens @ ISO 6400,sure your shots will be stuning, but
for K20 with DA* 50-135 & 200mm.. @ ISO 1600..abit noisy but can make it also..

Pretty good takes there. Did well with a "slow" lens.

I "sniped" with the FA43 @ ISO800, but since I was far away, cropping revealed poor resolution/focus. Times like this I wish I had a K20D for better resolution at high ISO.

Go and get a K20D then, it's pretty cheap nowadays even in local stores w/ full local warranty

it really depends on how determined you are to get to the front or at least within shooting range..i myself had to step on a few toes among others to get close enough.

Nah. I can still control the urge for now. I don't mind hands-me-down though.

I was there mostly to enjoy the stunts. Plus, I didn't want to be the a** who blocks other people's view, no thanks to my height.
