G lens don't have aperture rings so how are you going to shoot on FM bodies?

G lenses require electronic connection to the body to operate the aperture. I don't think FG has electronic contact points around its mount... Check out your FG to make sure.

G lenses will only work properly on the following Nikon bodies which have the main command dial to operate the aperture settings and the appropriate contacts between the body abd the lens to work in "P" mode:
F55
F65
F75
F80
F100
F5
D100
D1, D1H & D1x
D2H

None of the manual bodies will work properly with the G lenses.

SzennyBoy, do you know if G lenses will work on F90x (or F4)? I read on usernet they would work in "P" and "S" modes. But I'm not sure.

Yes, it will work on the F90x and F4 bodies but only in the "P" Program (and "PH" High-Speed Program on the F4) and "S" Shutter-Priority mode. Manual and Aperture-Priority will not function. This is the same for all the older AF bodies such as the F801(s), F501, etc... as well.

No, because there are no electronic contacts on the FA body to mate with the lens contacts... which is required by the lens for the body to communicate to it.
