It doesn't look sharp to me... maybe because of the small depth of field leading to the de-focused wings (fore and aft), but possibly also a bit of "camera-shake" (fuzziness in the eyes and body). Another point is that the image has too much blank space that doesn't do much for the composition. Try cropping away more of the background and tighten up on the subject. That might help.

You managed to get much closer to that fly as to how I managed to get.. I think the focus point was on the body instead of the head.. I like the composition, but the pic will definitely look better with a tighter crop as what SzennyBoy mentionned

btw, which setup are you using? macro lens/ +8 CloseUp??

I think the focus is slightly out. I do know it is very difficult to focus on the eyes. Also, maybe you want to crop a bit as they mentioned.
