Hi Bros. Anyone can recommend a zoom lens for my D90? Apart form my 18-105 VR kit lens, i was thinking of getting a bigger zoom lens for longer reach, most prob to 300mm. Are there any sub $1000 zoom lens with f2.8? hope to get some good recommendations from more PRO bros. Thanks all.

Im looking at Tokina 70-200 2.8. They said soft at wide open but I saw some results which i think is sharp enough for the price. I saw one, $ 750 at BNS. Not in production anymore so can only get 2nd hand.
Otherwise, just get the Nikkor 70-300 f4-5.6 VR. Maybe VR is enough to compensate the fix f2.8 for low light shots if you dont mind the bokeh. |

You may want to consider 80-400mm VR. Eventhough not 2.8, but it has a long reach...

Will save S$200-400 more for another 3-4 months and buy a used copy of AF 80-200mm f2.8D ED (two touch) if i am you. You will love this lens.

For the price of a 70-300VR lens, you can also get a 80-200 f/2.8D one-touch version (note to get the D version). The IQ for the 80-200 is great

depending on what you shoot, VR at >100mm is very useful

price <$1k and 300mm and F2.8 is not possible.
1) 70-200 F2.8 is a better bet 2)variable aperture like 70-300VR F4.5-5.6 3) AF-D 300F4 |
