Default SU-800 on non-Nikon DSLR

Has anyone tried connecting a non-Nikon DSLR with a SU-800 and using the SU-800 to trigger remote Nikon flashes via CLS/AWS?

Will it work?

if you do not know, nikon flash system will only work on nikon camera. so SU-800 commander unit will not work on other brand because of the hotshoe pin configuration.

Actually... Nikon flashes can work on other cameras.... tried and tested before. It's just tat the full functions are not capable of being fulfilled... i.e. you can shoot it in M mode or A mode

That is what I was wondering about, if my camera just need to fire off the SU-800 and SU-800 set the remote flashes their power, will it work?

Wanting to know if anyone have tried this before.

I was planning to test it on the weekends, but after seeing your post, I dug the required stuff and tried on Panasonic G1, same results did not fire.

Using SU-800 and one remote SB-R200.
