yeah 14-24mm lens its ard 2.4k, i heard that this lens is good in so many ways. unless there are 3rd party lens that are equally the same quality and at a cheaper price i dun mind getting it.since i have already spent my cash on 70-200vr..

Yeah... since it's for landscapes, you won't need the wide apertures anyway... so the 12-24 would be a good choice to look at.

can you sleep well if you settle on third party lens after you have experienced the power of 14-24mm 2.8? If the ans is yes, then go ahead, after all, third party lens do produce good quality picture.

btw, who said that you need a ultra-wide to shoot landscapes? you can even shoot landscapes with the 70-200.
the 18-70 is a very versatile lens, although it has its limitation in low light, but good enough for wide angles down to 18mm. but if you want a cheaper alternative for wide / ultra-wide compared to the 14-24, the nikon or tokina 12-24 are good alternatives. |

If you ask me, i will go for the widest possible wide angle, from Nikon or Tokina (thats the only 2 I trust).
which makes it 10-24, and it will not overlap your 18-70 too much. 14-24, though powerful, is not a good fit on your DX body. its just not wide enough. a 14mm on D300 has the equivalent FOV as 21mm on D700. so whats the point? It just will not be wide enough. The newer 10-24 on D300 is the same as 15mm on D700. so, I will say, its a better bet, though cheaper feeling. Dont get the most powerful lens there is in the market now, which is not a good fit for the body that you are using. |

Thks Cactus jACK luntut for remnding, almost forget the Crop factor. If cs is using D300, then getting 14-24 may not be the best choice.
