D90 price to drop because of D5000 ?

Do you think the price of D90 to drop because of D5000 ???
Afterall D90 has been around for a while.

Agreed.d5000 is a replacement for d60 and d90 is a replacement for d80.One market the newbie market another markets the serious hobbyist.For me i would go for D90

Well ..i hope so.
when I enquiry about D90 price from my regular shop , he ask me to wait alittle longer BUT refuse to tell me how long. That mean D90 will drop price. So I thought it was because of D5000 or maybe newer model coming soon.

So I guess I have to hold awhile to get the D90.

Anyone got any leak infor ?

I heard there is a 18 months rule in this industry, so D90 should not be replaced so soon.

D90 is only out for less than a year. a replacement in near future will be unlikely.
even if ther is any new model that follows up, i think the upgrades would be very limited.
tilt screen? more pixel? what else?

Cameras prices are not likely to drop in the near future because the yen is still strong. Unless Nikon decide to make its camera in Thailand like what Toyota did with its Vios and Altis

Nikon makes their cameras in Thailand (don't think it's all camera bodies, but entry and enthu models should be).

To TS: Prices will definitely drop if u wait long enough. If u are talking about price drop in the near future, i think it won't be much. D90 is still in demand by the consumers. (economics - suppy demand maintains price). If u hav been looking at the characteristics of Nikon prices so far, they don't usually don't change much. It's not going to be a lot cheaper.

Errr, isn't the D90 made in Thailand already? My D80 is.

D5000 and D90 are different segments. Unliekly D90 will be discontinued becoz of a D5000x.

My recently bought D90, both body and 18-105 kit lens, are made in Thailand. So the strong Yen won't affect the price so much. Price will definitely drop one day, but by then there will be another new model attracting you - it will be an endless loop.

actually not true, as Nikon is a japanese company and calculates their profit/loss in japanese yen back at HQ
