Changing the resolution (size) of photos

Hi guys,

how do i actually change the resolutions of the photos i take? is it done by the different aspect ratios? i have tried to find them in the menu but to no avail. Or are they fixed according to the type of file saved and the quality? e.g jpeg/raw, 10Mp, 9mp etc. Thanks in advance!
