Long Term Goals.
Was going to upgrade to a 602z but then the plan got scrapped. Now going for the big boys or at least something good enough to start with. The Canon 300D looks promising with the range of accessories that supports it.
So for a guy that often cover indoor events, parties and lots of sports events and concerts. What are the sort of lens that I would need? Going to be working mad overtimes just to save up. Aiming to to own my set of equipment by June but I would need to know what kind of budget would I be looking at.

you sound like you need fast lenses!
concerts are the $$$$ word! if you cannot flash your subjects
you need 17-35mm or 16-35mm f2.8L ($1250-$2400)
28-70 or 24-70mm f2.8L ($1200-$2400)
70-200mm 2.8L IS or 70-200mm f2.8L ($1500-$3100)
indoor events with flash
most lens will do, a very good beginner lens is 28-135mm f3.5-5.6 ($850)
sport events, it depends
you may need (70-200mm) range, 200mm 2.8mm, 300mm,400mm 1.4 extenders 2.0 extenders. all cost a limb or two to own.
you may need flashes ex220,ex420 abt $350, ex550 abt $610
you may need more than one 1gb card abt ($377-$470) each
for all the expensive lenses, you may need good filters to protect your elements (B+W) $60-$130
you may need a ex storage to backup your pictures
a good place to see these things is at http://www.usa.canon.com/eflenses/
you may need another camera to back up your 300D
welcome to the dark side!
