tamron 17-50mm enquire...

hi morning..
currently intend to buy tamron 17-50mm f2.8 lens....
my frenz will b goin hong kong and the price in hong kong is like $550 which comes wif 1 yr international warranty.

as for the local set...it seems like the price is around $650 (any lower price?) but, i'm not sure about the warranty status. Some mentioned 1 yr and some say 3 yrs.

hence..pretty stuck in deciding whether to get local or from hong kong...
i checked the price list available in here but only show price...hence..can any1 update me the latest status?...

Hi, i have thgt of buying from hongkong too, but seriously i have asked my frens over there to look around and the quote they got is different from wad u found on the net.

So i thought, save the trouble, since SG Tamron is having a promotion till 1 May(which is over) which gives out free $20 Tangs/Taka voucher might as well i get it here with a 3yrs warranty.

btw i bght it at $620, why u got $650? which is rather high in my opinion.

Not sure wil dofferent mount cost different.
Sometimes, parislik will give slightly cheaper price, I got quoted 618 from them before. TK quote me 620 before. MS, CP quote 630.

As for warranty, you will get 3 yrs local warranty. If you will move overseas, before the 3 yrs end, you may submit your ori receipt and warranty card to them to exchanged for 1 yr international warranty.

hmmm...the price has dropped? if i dont remember wrongly...i bot it at 670 at MS colour half a yr back.
$620 sounds great. go get it!

Bought mine 17-50mm at $630 at MS (Feb09), and that time come wif $50 Tangs voucher, 3 years warranty Love it very much!

got my nikon mount @ Sep08 from John @ 680 for 3yrs warranty.

go get it if its closer to 600. bet u'll love this lens

got mine recently at cp for 629 + 49 (B+W 67mm uv filter)

nice lens ever in my gadget so far...u wont regret....oh ya...it come with 1 yr int warranty and 3 yrs local warranty...pay extra for peace of mind?? for me yes~ haha

if not mistaken, tk there abit cheap if u dun wan to get b+w filter..jus for your info

yaya...probably wanna get it 2ml (friday)...but OP price dun seem to be stable...1 of our forum ppl quote n bought it at $620...i called yesterday n they quote me $630...hm....

yesterday i only calle OP, AP and cathay photo...both AP n cathay photo seem damn piss. i asked nicely whether stock availabel, unable to test a few sets b4 purchase..after tat..my last question was the price, after they mentioned the price, i replied something like "ok" and they immediately hang my call n i was like...wat's wrong...!!!!
only OP gave me a nice on-phone customer service...lol....anyway..so far only OP gave e lowest price...n they r willing to let me test out few sets...

bought my lens le...wondering..is the lens suppose to b tat tough to rotate?? (referring to the zoom)...
and i realise tat..my cannon 18-55mm IS n tamron 17-50mm sharpest is almost equally gd!!!... jus tat tamron has e f2.8...hence keepin my canon kit also..lol..

Good for you on the purchase. I've email the Tamron person in charge before (you may check the Tamron sub forum, forgot his name, some where in one thread), they should only giving the max warranty 3 yrs; say if u only left 2 month, i suppose they will only give you another 2 month after the conversion to international warranty.

some may claimed that some shops told them in different ways, I would say because the sales person in shops not familiar with the warranty thing. Best to check with the distributor, since at the end of the day, you need to send your item to them, if you need any warranty claiming, not to the shops.

And, it has been talked a lot in the forum, that 18-55 IS is a good quality kit, just with the drawback of no f2.8. DPreview also comment it is a good for price lens.

i bought e lens yesterday le...for $620 with 3 yrs warranty..given for the resale value n now wif 3 yrs warranty...i think is worth it too..hehe..

yaya...i did check...nis like...$530 sg dollar...but only wif 1 yr warranty..if i really buy from hk n it happens to haf front n rear focus issue..i'll have to send in for service which ends up like..1 mth?? since they gonna send to japan for service..quite not worth it for this..also..now come wif 3 yrs warranty..hence i settle down in local piece...which i get to try out 3 sets b4 buying..
