First suggestion would be to try to do a custom white balance when you shoot infrared. The standard proceedure would be to take the white balance off something green like grass or plants. That will help whiten plants and the overall picture colors- you will still have to do processing if you want to get say a blue sky. If you have troubles getting a white balance with your IR filter in place then try using the "tungsten" light setting.
