Default Qn on MB-D10 golden pins

Does anyone experience flashing batt indicator problem after cleaning golden pin contact on the grip? I have attached a pic of the golden pins. From the image shown, there is a golden pin that is slightly recessed. I would like to check does anyone observed any similar pin height variation on your grip? Cause the problem appears to be a contact problem.

Weekends does not help, unfortunately

Hi Jeff,

I just checked mine and yes it's recessed as well. You might want to check your internal battery contacts on the grip.

definitely a mechanical problem since it recovered when I placed the cam in the sun to bake on two separate occassions. independent of firmware.

Could it be due to the battery cartridge didn't lock in correctly in the battery chamber or anything? Anyway good to know that it works now

Quite curious to know what the problem and solution might be since heat (suntan) restored function. How did you think of doing that anyway?
Heat causes the metal contacts to return to shape? Hmm. Do you use strictly EN-EL3s?

probably after a no brainer session with me and myself and the kind help of Nikon frontline and technical staff, the problem was resolved.

Key lies with the rechargeable batteries I was using. Apparently with new sets of batteries, the grip came alive! With old batts fully charged, problem of flashing batt recurred.

The technician must be laughing his head off

hey Jeff,

I am getting this problem for quite a while already. and i still get it even with new En-EL3e. its very intermittent though, but it can get really annoying.

I also figured that loosening the grip and tightening it back can solve this problem, till a very long while later...

any one having this problem still???

Its a known problem more common with D300. Just do a google search, discussed in various forums.
