Default Turning the cam into webcam?

Is it possible to hook up the digital cam to the pc, and have a live preview of wat you see on the lcd screen on the pc, and record that on the pc as a movie, aa bit like webcams? Heh just wondering.. maybe there is a software out there that can do this...

You can try Teveo, Creative Webcam Monitor.

Managed to configure my Sony DSC-F505 using the software.

It is not so much about the software, but more on whether the camera supports USB video capture protocol. If it does, then Windows XP should have native support for a standard USB video camera. All you need then is a video capture software (Windows Movie Maker is free).

If the camera does not support USB web cam mode, another way is to use the analog video out of the camera and connect that through a video capture device to the PC. The video capture device may cost as much (if not more) as a dedicated USB webcam, though.
As complexity rises, precise statements lose meaning and meaningful statements lose precision.
