Default IR Photos- The Inferno

Yes, I sometimes try to do things different with infrared. I actually took this one while I was on vacation in Colorado visiting family. We went for a drive in the Rocky Mountains to enjoy the sights and during the trip I tried an experiment- panning with trees as we drove past. I had a lot which did not work but this one I liked. It looked sort of like a forest fire- with some tree parts easily visable and others blured by the motion of the car. I upped the red and it really looks like a blazing fire. I am planning on entering it into a major photography competion which is going to be where I live in San Diego "The Art of Photography". http://www.artofphotographyshow.com/ Last year they received over 10,000 entries and showed only about 100 so getting in would be a huge honor. I am trying to decide on other possible entries- I have until May 24th to edit and upload them. I only have to make a print if I am accepted. Photos from last year and more details if anyone is interested at the link.

Inferno:

The only other one I am pretty sure I will enter is not in infrared but I will post it here if you do not mind. I shot this one last weekend of a person heading out for an ocean swim. I added a graduated filter in processing and expanded on both sides of the image to make it square. Sorry about the color photo on an IR forum.

OK- maybe a couple of recent IR photos too. I hope you like my pictures. Thank you for looking.

Zebra Grazing- San Diego Zoo

Bonsai- the plant is very small- about maybe 10cm. I processed it to look like an old photo (I need some scratchy old picture textures to use!)

Tree Rings- a local sculpture and some trees.

i do like the first picture, but i think you probably also know that it's going to be the sort of

"either you love it or hate it" picture.

anyways, if i may comment on the second picture, i 'll be blunt here, i find the processing gimmicky, and you are probably going to be treading on a very thin edge, most photography competitions are not that anti-post processing, but this is really going to be a bit too mcuh, if you ask me. a rough guide to how much is acceptable, would be past winning entries.

anyhow, good luck with the competition.

Thank you for your honest comments. I do have the show books with all the winners from the last two years.
