Hi, Let me ask some questions.

My understanding the Profoto using different method to varies the light output than other brands of lightings. How is this variation been done? Is it complicated?

Next, does its accessories compatible to its own lightings? Or only to its specified heads?
What is the cost for its accessories? For softbox, Umbrella and reflectors?

Any suggestions or recommendation on what accessories to get. I am more interested in getting a Profoto Acute B 600R and my budget is around $4K.

Apologies on these noob questions as I had not tried any of the Profoto lightings before.
Please guide me.

$4k is a gd budget to set with AcuteB 600R. You can save some $ if u go for the non-R version, abt $3k (just add your fav radio trigger).

I'm not sure about how Profoto adj the light intensity. It has auto-dump function, so you get pretty accurate power everytime.

I suggest a visit to the Profoto holy shrine (Shriro) will be proper to get acquainted with the rest of the light mod. There'a a price list there too. :-) For those into portraits and fashion, check out the mola dishes. Enough said, seeing is believing. There's light at the near of the tunnel.

Wah, light adjustments. Out of league liao. LOL.

My guess is, it really depends which model. Old ones use knob to adjust, but not potentiometer kind, rather like fixed increments like the speed of a classroom fan spd 1 2 3 4 5. There is the auto dump function but being too used to traditional methods, I keep pressing the test button so I've no idea whether it works accurately. The new systems are digital and uses the + / - to adjust intensity. I keep seeing 0.1 increments, my guess is it's going to be far more accurate enough to make minor adjustments. With the build in Profoto Air, this makes it even more amazing.

Profoto Air Remote costs about three to four hundred bucks per piece, but allows you to adjust the power on the new systems as it's all digital. More for convenience sake, nice to use, not really an important necessity to me. The cheaper alternative would be the Profoto Air that's about four hundred bucks a pair, which is smaller and lighter than a PocketWizard and uses only 2 AAA batteries. As its small and doesnt have a big external antenna, no surprise that its range not as far as a PW but hey, it's FRIGGING LIGHT. My test trials indicate approximate 30metres range with 6 walls in between, which IMHO, is far superior to other triggers like PT04. I'd even throw away the Skyport triggers.

Last I recall, the AcuteB 600 has an offer, battery pack and head for $3k. You'll probably end up getting a few more light modifiers for that. Especially the adaptor + 2x3 sotbox for approx 600 and a reflector + grid for same amount.

I have a couple of pocketwizards so no worries. ......will be also using PW Mini and Flex for light weight.

Below is the list accessories maybe getting if I aquire the AcuteB 600.
1) Zoom reflector
2) Umbrella sliver and white
3) Margnum reflector with grids
4) perhaps a beauty dish.

.....the light had become clear....when to visit the Shine?

I'm using the bowens umbrellas from old days.

The reflectors are wrap over the light and tightened one, so you can actually loosen, it back and forth to adjust the "zoom" LOL

Shine visited every first tuesday night of the month (Hassey User Grp)

If you want light quality, go for ProFoto, if you want cheap, then I think Jinbei from Afiend is better. $700 vs $3000. omg wtf bbq
