Where to buy lens rear caps

Hi all,

I'm quite annoyed by the crappy rear caps that come with Tamron lenses (only fit in one orientation, loose fit, etc) so I'm looking for rear caps to replace them. I know I can get the original Pentax bayonet caps from B&H but the price is too high for me.

Anyone has any suggestions on a source for a decent quality rear cap? Any experience with any of those for sale on ebay, etc?

I've had a look at the dealextreme caps, cheap but the feedback on the product doesn't seem so good.

I also saw these ones on ebay which look like good-quality clones of the original Pentax bayonet rear cap. Cost 2x as much as the DX one but the quality looks better, like OEM.

I bought orignal Pentax rear caps at about Jpy 450 each (S$7.00) when I was in Japan 2 weeks ago.

Don't mind pay a bit more for the orignal.

I bought 3rd party "Body and Rear" caps from Ebay online and costed me S$5.90. These are for my nephew and tested them with his camera and len. They looked ok to me.

That's cheap. I bought mine from Shashinki at abt $15 per piece. The original's still the best yet can't be found locally.

agree that the original rear cap is the best. I bought mine in Japan. Hope that emjay will bring in these accesories such as lens cap, body cap, strap, M42 adapter, sensor cleaning kit and etc. Otherwise, many of us will need to fly japan to get them.

Yeah the eBay one looks quite good.. But the price works out to be around the same as what Ben Loke paid for the original caps from Japan!

You can mark a big PENTAX on the cap if you like

You seem to be paying quite a bit more for your stuff...
$15 for a piece of plastic... eek!

Can confirm the ones without the Pentax mark is no different than the one with the words Pentax on them...

I ordered a couple of rear caps for someone from B&H while buying my K20D. It cost US$9.95 per pc, so I guess you're not alone.

Hope to see the Japan price here too.

i have an idea...

why dun we gather enough users who need the rear lens cap... not much just 1000 will do...

i will charge $10 each, still cheaper than buying online...hahaha..... i will fly to japan and buy 1000 rear caps at $7...

still made ~$1500 after airfare plus free travel...

Its plausible. $10 sounds very fair to me already. To make more business sense, get the front lens cap as well. 49mms especially. Diversify it with other hard to get Pentax accessories and make ur name known as the distributor for original Pentax accessories. Also collaborate with MJ and ask them not to compete with you. But come think of it, the market is pretty small, and it will take a long time before you can break even and reap ur profits.
