advise on 2nd hand 5700

tentatively I'll be getting a 2nd hand nikon 5700.
Is there anything to watch out for, other than dead pixels/lens condition ?
And does dust gets into the lens easily ?

Ensure the hotshoe works, the swivel is able to display the images correctly

Dust shouldn't get inside if the previous user took very good care of it.

erm is there anyway to ensure the hotshoe is working if i dun have a flash with me ?
