Time : 4pm to 7pm Subject : Street photography and Documentary Photography Aim : To record and archive through close up/macro photography on Tiong Bahru. Some guidelines to help you guys out : - How does an old lock to a shop house look like in detail? - How does an old electric meter of an old shophouse look like? - How does an old window grill look like in detail? - Looking into a back alley and discovering what makes Tiong Bahru interesting and unique. - Looking into the old eateries and shooting the little things in that place that makes it charming. The objective is to end up with a gallery on "Street Photography" with the collection of images and maybe start a small project group to contribute stock images in the future. Since the beginning of our gatherings almost three years ago (Four Thirds Section started in 2006), we have been discussing and sharing and now its time to see something happening and helping one another achieve more, with a possibility of starting a stock library based on the unique FOV of Four Thirds Camera System. All of us can do with some extra cash to buy more gear, don't we? How things will eventually turn out, well, we will not know, but it does not hurt to try. I am hoping for shooters to also consolidate their best shots so that one day, we can also aim for a proper exhibition. I want to push to achieve more, because I know many of us has already covered more grounds in our photography and become better photographers. And for old friends who have moved to another system, you are still welcome to join us, since we are all photographers. This will be a series, covering housing estates in Singapore over a period of time (until the passion die out). I am looking at a long term shooting period. For this purpose, I will also need someone to help me as a "curator" for this project, so please give it a thought and if this really appeals to you, then please step up and lend me your hand. I am sure it will be an interesting experience. For every outing, the group will be kept small to 5 shooters, and don't worry if you miss one session. There will be many more sessions in the coming. I am putting the following dates in advance : CORE TEAM MEMBERS LIST : 1. microcosm 2. 3. 4. 5. 9th May 2009 session (4-7pm, dinner afterwards) 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 16th May 2009 session (4-7pm, dinner afterwards) 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 23rd May 2009 session (4-7pm, dinner afterwards) 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Basic equipment to have (good to have, if not, no worries) - Camera Body (with second for alternative lens, speeds up reaction time) - Standard Wide Zoom (14-42, 14-54, 12-60,etc) - Telephoto Zoom (70-300, 50-200, etc) - Macro Lens (35mm, 50mm, 105mm, 150mm, etc) - Flash Unit (for dark areas) - Comfortable camera bag for long hours of carrying and shooting - Water bottle (optional, there are always some convenient stores around Tiong Bahru) See you all at this series of events. ![]()

Yes you can, definitely. More importantly, you should be able to learn a thing or two from observing how the others shoot while you experiment with some shooting styles of your own.

I am not planning way ahead. Currently outings are only limited to the month of May. If there is an outbreak in Singapore, all these events will be cancelled too. Everyone will stay home then... :-)

i think this will be a mid to long term project. i'm guessing that it will take at least 6 months to document the pioneer housing estates in Singapore (Tiong Bahru, Queenstown, Kampong Glam, etc). there is still curating work to be done and managing a stock photo library.
