Anyone can verify that the Archos 5 (Portable Media Player) can directly import files straight from the DSLR into the PMP without the need for a notebook.

Yes you can transfer directly from camera to Archos device, HOWEVER, it does require the use of an additional docking station. Weather that be the mini dock, battery dock or DVR station, is up to you and your budget, all have the required usb connections. My suggestion is the battery dock in the bang for you buck category.
