Default Buying Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 XR Di II

As reference to the title above, what should i look out for when buying this lens? (I will be buying it real soon...)

I have read that there are some front focusing problem with this lens. How do i verify it?

1)Is there a chart that i can print out or use as reference so i can test the lens for front/back focusing prob?
2)How do i test the sharpness of the lens? Use a mini tripod and shoot using it so as to prevent unwanted hand shake?
3)Is too too 'over' if i bring my laptop there to check the images taken on the spot? I always have the problem that the pic will look sharp and clear on my cam lcd and later to find that it's abit blur on my com.
4)Is there any significant difference between Assembled in China and Made in Japan?

Have i left out any important points? Need i look through the lens for possible fungus?

Thank you all in advance for your help and advices!

Check that the corners of the images are sharp. Mine doesn't suffer from focusing problems but the right corners are very blur and 'distorted' compared to the left! Just Google 'resolution charts' or use this chart which i used

1 other thing to note, do ask and clarify the warranty part. as the prices may differ by as much as $100.
so weigh the price difference and make a decision urself

good luck and i m sure u will love this lens, as much as i do!!

I just got this lens today, got a good price from MSColor even if it was my first time to visit that shop.

very happy with this lens
