Default Help with HP HDMI Monitor Calibration

I just switched from a normal LCD monitor to a HP HDMI (Full HD) monitor but find that the colours are too rich and bright compared to actual print.

My regular laptop monitor seems to be giving out the right colour output compared to the HDMI monitor.

Help! How do I configure my HDMI monitor to reflect the right colour , contrast and brightness????

Note: I've tried adjusting the brightness and colour options but still not as close.

the best way is through a calibration device like spyder and using icc profiles.

Second that. Everything else is pure guessing and tinkering.
