Default SD,Mini DV, Harddisk, DVD which is the way to go?

Looking for a simple video camera.

Was contemplating between the few new recording format: SD, HDD, MiniDV, DVD.

Will required some editing on the videos.

I used to have MiniDV, but sometimes the hassle of not editing and just dump the whole raw footage into DVD still requires capturing time.

Need some advise on DVD and SD.
Am I able to editing if I get a DVD or SD video camera? If so, which is a recommended model?

Not looking at harddisk cam as most of them in the market are still quite expensive. Budget is around $500 - $700.

Hi-Def is out of your budget in that case. But i really believe u should take a look at Hi Def models which is costing more or less 1K.

Actually, I did use HD cam recently. Did some footage for a wedding.

Was using Xacti HD1010 and I find that it is very hard to get it edited on my PC!

The H.24 mp4 format makes it difficult for the editing software to recognise and PC is not ultra fast processor plays the video in very laggy manner.
