Default Reliability of SDM-ed lenses

Saw a thread in Pentax Forum discussing problem with SDM on DA* 50-135.

Anyone here has that problem as I was thinking of getting a DA*50-135 or a Tamron/Sigma 70-200?

Do we need longer warranty from Emjay?

as long a built in motor with moving parts is involved...breakdown is simply a matter of time.

you paid so much for a sdm lens..nothing wrong getting longer warranty. Just make sure the additional warranty covers the problems related to such lenses.
