Fellow IR photographer, I need help. I just converted my D70s from fatigue and I must say, by looking through the viewfinder without any filter, in front of the lens, really makes taking IR pic easier.
But whenever I transfer my photos to computer and open in Lightroom or Bridge or Photoshop, the software will auto color the photos to everything red. Is this normal or do i need to change any setting in the software. The picture when view in the D70s was awesome but once transfer to comp . . . . . |

it probably means that your white balance is still not set properly
either that, or your lightroom/whatever settings need to be changed back to custom wb used when shot btw, lcd of any dslr is never 100% accurate, don't trust it |

at first what i saw at the LCD, of my D70s, is shown when i open the software but after that, the screen slowly change every photos to red in color. Thats what I am puzzle. I delete away the file again and copy again from my CF card. Same thing happen when i open the software. The picture is shown just like what I saw on the camera LCD, than after that auto tune itself to fuly red again.
Will try again ur suggestion, on presetting the WB, when I go to the Hortpark tml. Thank You!! |

Picture taken in RAW and JPEG. Take note that I took this image at night and use fluorescent light. The WB is set in the morning at Hortpark.
RAW JPEG At first, the RAW image is the same as the one in JPEG when view in the viewfinder. But when import both the photos into Lightroom or Photoshop, the image in RAW auto render the image to red instead. Anyone has any solution so that adobe doesnt auto render the photo?? |

The fluorescent light does not produce good infrared light.
Try shooting outside And set the WB again. You can use an ordinary A4 typewritting paper

Take note that at first the image taken in RAW is the same as the image taken in JPEG. But when transfer over to Lightroom or Photoshop, the software will auto render the RAW image to the red colour.
The above image is for reference only because I also want to make sure whether did I set anything wrong. Really love the image in IR but I need more practise. LOL. So, beside KelvinDestiny and me, having the problem of software auto rendering our RAW image, is there any ideas whether can we stop the software from doing that so as to preserve the image we took?? |

If you have Nikon Convert NX 2, you can try using that to convert your RAW photo to TIFF before loading to Photoshop, etc.

It's simply because you open RAW infrared files straight through Adobe products. Please don't do it. You have to open it through your native camera softwares, if Nikon open it in Nikon Capture NX, if Canon open it in Canon DPP.
After that, you can save those files to TIFF or JPG formats, then you can process those TIFF or JPG files through Adobe products again, eg. Photoshop. ---------------------------- www.myinfrared.net Last edited by dibyogahari; 5th May 2009 at 09:16 PM. |
