Hello,
Just wondering if we have the above lens user here. I just acquired a 2nd hand 24-85 a while ago and somehow when I use Auto Focus @ 24mm ... it can't lock [ note .. indicator become o ] when I focus at an object ie a house say 30m away. I tried all my 3 bodies [ F100, F90 and F90x ] and all exhibit the same result. Did I get a faulty lens ? or is it by design ? as my Tokina AT 193 [19-35mm] @ 19mm can easily lock that subject from the same distance. Strangely .. a friend AFS 24-85 @ 24mm is having the same problem too on my F100 ![]() [hopefully its not my F100 ]thx. |

I have the AFD 24-85 f2.8, and use on the D100. I do not have focusing problem. I can auto-focus easily on every focal length. Occasionally if the subject is too dark, then the lens will have difficulty locking the focus. I usually turn on the focus assist lamp, and look for a vertical line/structure for focusing.

The object I sample shot is a construction site near my place , but apparently it can't lock focus also. I am now nagging the seller for a refund ![]() |
