Anybody got TS-1, please share your experience. I would like to get one for water activities.

Am also looking out for one. Either this (think labelled as FT 1) or the Canon D10.
It looks much better looking than the Canon but the Canon can go deeper and shock-proofing claims to be better. |

I went to take a look at the TS1 when I found out that is was attractively priced at $620.
Some feedback on the TS1 . The lens is positioned on the top RHS of the cam. When I first held it, I could see part of my left index finger in the lcd screen. This meant that I could only hold the cam along the top and bottom edge and be careful not to let my fat finger stray in front of the lens. For snorkelling use , it will be very cumbersome and chances of error will be high. Also, the lcd screen was not very bright which was another minus given that its already difficult to see a bright lcd underwater. I will be shooting in the blind. In the default mode the screen looked yellowish , which I was told was to compensate for underwater usage. Trouble was I hadn't even gone into the water and somehow the yellowish tinge just irritated me a little. Having said all these, the camera seems quite well built with a brushed metal finish. The recording button is conveniently located next to the lcd screen and the cam produced relatively sharp pics. But since I will be using it in the water most of the time and with the 2 above mentioned shortcomings , I decided to pass this handsome cam and opted for the ugly canon D10 instead. Hope panasonic will address these issues when the second gen comes out. |

Sigh... after reading your comment I'm thinking if I should just go for Fujifilm or Canon one. Want one that can replace the LX3 since I want to take more pictures of my team in the water.

Ended up with Canon D10. IQ is quite good outdoor. Easy to handhold even with 1 hand. Had taken it to the pool few times, so far no problem (touch wood). Flash performance so so (compared to my fuji f31). Overall like it for outdoor camera. Size is rather large but not unmanageable, style...i rather like it ![]() |

D10 draw back are : no wide angle 28mm (but a 35mm), no HD video, not really a size that fits in pocket without ppl wrongly think its ur *ahem* "bluebird" ..haha.. but i think those like purely good IQ, D10 is the one..
but from the sample photos, the much cheaper pentax W60 is really quite good, as good as D10 i say.. maybe just not as sharp only.. |
