most of the food used in food photography cannot be eaten. dry ice, glue, paint and many more things are used to make the food more appealing and to minimize post processing in later part.

I've tried. Used flash. But it looks nowhere as good as it did on the menu.

Multiple strobes (studio-like lighting) are required though.

That's why. Bcos food must go close up then flash will give a harsh shadow.

u will learn more, try to visualize what u want to achieve with your friend's input.
    food styling can be fun!

btw, this is akin to shooting model but dunno how to pose a model. this happen to most of photographers in paid shoot which i noticed (paid cheap shoot, not those like charby's ones). charby's using pro models.

depends on what u want to achieve. normally 1x400W strobe is enuf.
diffuser in front of the strobe is a must too to avoid harsh lighting.

Yup. The guide I read was very comprehensive on how strobes are supposed to be positioned etc.

Haha! The video is cool and hilarious.

You scream at the food that you are photographing. Gosh. Do it at the restaurant and you see everyone staring at you.

    ROFL.
