Hi Guys,

Anyone bought this Sunpak PZ42X? Any reviews? Thank you for your review in advance.

I have one. I like the flash color, and it is adequately powered (GN of 42m). Can ETTL-2 and fully adjustable manual output from 1/1 (full power) to 1/64. Well built, and it's compact enough. About the size of a Nikon SB600. Zoom and swivel flash head.

Stofen makes an Omnibounce diffuser for it as well - I take it to mean that the flash unit is reputable enough.

It's a good secondary flash (can be triggered with the cheap PT-04) and inexpensive alternative to the 430EXII. Highly recommended.

I'm using a PZ42X off-camera, and very happy with it so far. Recharge time is excellent, and good build quality for the price. My only grouse is that you can only go in a loop when you want to change the manual flash output - i.e. you can go from 1/1 to 1/2 to 1/4 easily, but to get back to 1/1 you need to press the button repeatedly until it reaches 1/64 and jumps back to 1/1.

Wow happy to see so many people using this model as well. I use it with 400d and liked the function to control the intensity of the flash from 1/1 to 1/64. Also the head can swivel to cover most angles.
The flash is powerful enough for bouncing off ceilings and cards.

Can I check with the guys what size of the Omni bounce did u guys get ? is it the same as the 430 ex II ?

You mean hot shoes? The PT-04 has a hotshoe too, but it's just a single pin hotshoe IIRC.

Yup, but you'll need a relevant trigger like the PT-04

Not sure.
The last time I bought was $210.
You can try calling up the reputable shops to ask whether they have stock and get a quote.

Yes that is the right thing to do. The Sto-Fen for SB-600 fits to a T.

Yes, but you lose E-TTL because the flash is triggered by the centre pin in PT-04 (can buy from TagoTech online store). So you set flash power and your exposure manually.

I got it around the same price too. Check out MS Color, they stock this flash.

Yes. Pocketwizards, blah blah blah... From your PM to me, it is apparent that you are a newbie in flash photography. Well, my point is that you should cross the bridge when you come to it!

Do start with on-camera flash first before wondering about off-camera strobing. Go read up on E-TTL metering and the various aspects of flash photography first.

Call up MS Color. As someone mentioned, they stock this product.
If not, call up any of the reputable shops to check.
