Here's a pano shot of brisbane city from southbank and another pano from the bridge going over to QUT. C&C welcome.
F8 8 sec 18mm ![]() F5 1/800 18mm ![]() The exif data should be right but since it was about 4 shots each to get the pano, it may be a little different. Bigger sizes here http://www.flickr.com/photos/7715200@N03/ |

erm i first selected my f-number in Av mode, then metered the different scenes to get the shutter speed number.. it turned out 8s was about avg.
Set it to manual, put in f8, and correspondingly 8sec. that gives me even exposure throughout the 4 shots. Hope i explain clearly, if not can the expert bros here share? That was my first pano, and pretty pleased on how it turned out |

I would love to visit there someday Just some nit pick - for the first one I am not sure if the curved foreground greens and the right ? jetty could have positively contributed to the picture. Having rotate ard a point to make the multiple shots especially at wider angles can introduce more distortions. Look out for the horizon. - The silhouette and the overall color did not express the warmth of the morning, and somehow the placement gave the impression of a slanted horizon even though the buildings appear vertical. I first set the mode to Aperture priority, select a suitable F number (8 in this case), then half depress the shutter while aiming at different parts of the scene. You should see the shutter speed change accordingly to the bright and dark parts of the scenes. I get different shutter speeds of 5,8, 10, 13 so the average is 8.
I then turn to manual and input F8 and shutter speed 8. THen I shoot. hope u get what i mean, if not hope the experts can help. lol |

yes i forgot that there's vignetting at the wide angle of the lens, i should have taken the pic at 20+mm instead?
I didn't crop out the ferry station because i thought the picture would be less 'pano', i wanted the pic to have a wide feel. On hindsight, maybe i should have Btw I didn't rotate around a point per se (which is require for proper pano photography). I simply rotated around on my tripod. I read somewhere as long as the subject is far away, it won't have parallax error. It's an evening! LOL |

Haha! Miss this place too. That's not the CityCat jetty right? That's the Inner City Ferry one?

The first one is nice, you can adjust the vertical of the building by assigning some vertical lines to the stitching software you are using like PTGui. http://www.johnhpanos.com/levtut.htm This will make the building true vertical. |

Captain Cook bridge ?
You study in QUT ? QUT, Brisbane, Westend market ... , sound so familiar. Haven't been there since 1992 . By the way, nice pano attempt.

After reading your link, what i understand is, on top and above of the usual identifying same features on 2 photos, I should also add 'vertical line' control points is that right? What i usually do is click 3-4 identical features on my pics and let hugin (my pano software) do the rest, assuming everything will be a-okay. I'm studying in UQ btw, and westend market rocks! The guitarist that is, not the groceries. ![]() |
