hi guys
it's me and my controversial series again. (yah yah right -__-) this time it's a journey (again) in black and white. basically a lot of the pics you see will not be blur motion-wise but they're unfortunately out of focus. yes. i shot the whole series using sony's nightshot mode and i was stupid enough to not remove my UV filter thus all the shots are OOF. but otherwise, i've did some PS to convert to black and white to my liking. do comment on this new series. thank you very much. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Yoz dude,
this one takes the cake for me... you can file the rest but hand out this one: Clue: how I chose this over the rest - once when you go thru the photo and you saw one that you have to make a double take, that's one photo either worth posting or trashbinworth. Interesting series... ![]()

hi glen,
whoa it's been a crazy timing for me for the past few weeks. I'm currently creating stock images for this upcoming christmas, and would be pressing my CD for sales in a couple of days. That would be another round of madness for me. Just hope that nothing goes wrong.. It's good to still see you pressing on with your work, and trying out to figure all those symetry rules. (The book I've shown you the other time is by Henri Cartier-Bresson). It's good at learning stage to understand how these masters use these simple symetries in their composition. Infact, these rules should apply even for all photographer of all levels. Though symetry is important, photography have much more important roles to play. Photography is a medium of communication. It expresses, it evokes and tells a moment in time. Apart from learning to manage good composition sense, you should look into the story content of it. Learn to organise and give substance to a piece of work by thinking it out and arranging them in a logical sequence. Title is important in giving clue to the intented message of the photography works. In the case of the title 'Journey", the photographer should ask various questions like, - What is 'Journey'? - How and what are the ways you can interpret journey? - do you have any opinions or personel thoughts about 'journey'? Question like these can actually stimulate you to create more indepth and exciting work. For example, in the case of the 2nd question, I can already think of a alternative ways to interpret my work. For example, apart from just doing a normal photojournalistic style of point and shoot, you can perhap think of ways of how to illustrate with photography in such a way that the sequence of imagery actually creates a illusion of motion. Frankly I think the 2nd idea (as compared to the point and shoot) is much more exciting and refreshing. There are thousand and one ways to interpret your work. And so, it is important to ask yourself what makes your current work different from your past works in order to keep that drive of shooting going. Apart from it, you have to learn to be more focus with your intented message. Photography is a visual language and have no sound, words or smell to help to communicate the message. Unlike a stand alone photograph, if the photographer's presentation is in a series, he has to make sure the intented message is repeated again and again inorder to let the audience understand what you are trying to put across. If the photographer is only presenting one master image, his audience would have only to decifer the message of that picture and that's it. In a series however, the audience would need to see the entire work inorder to decifer the intended message. If no exercise of control over the placement and selection of images, the work will look messy and off topic. |

hey wee thong
it's been one hell of a week for me too. been falling in and out of sickness, dizziness, vomiting, headaches, migraines, you name it i have it. it's totally weird (and actually it's two weeks). my specs broke i have no specs now i brought it to a shop to change the frame and the ******* spoilt my lens so i'm only left with contacts that i can wear for the whole day until a new pair comes. yes i understand what you're saying, and i must admit absolutely zero thought was given to the order of posting of these photos. i simply posted them according to my file number. it's my bad and i promise to arrange them properly next time. all the best for your CD sale ! hey henry, thanks for your kind comments. i must agree that some shots are really sucked, but i posted them anyway to see how everything goes. i'll work on my shots more. yes you're right, photography is an art, it's not as simple as point and shoot and composition and sharp photos. regards, me till my next series.
