Default A question about Selphy

I'm thinking of getting a Selphy for my mom this Mother's day. The problem is..
If I don't print any photo for an extended period, will the ink dry up?

Selpy uses "film ink" technically you dont refill but replace. It comes in pack with designated paper and film ink.

I own a selphy C720, it does not use liquid ink so it doesn't dry up even if you don't use it for a long long time. So far I've printed thousands of daily & tour photos and it's still working fine.

Oh.. great to know that. How much does it cost to print a photo? Ever calculated that?

Don't quote me. But I remember the sales guy telling me that it's approx 30-cents.

Selphy uses Dye-sublimation thermal print method. Read more about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dye-sublimation_printer

It's about 0.28¢ per copy and Canon proof that it can last for 100yrs.

Yeah. I think Harvey Norman 19-cent 4R prints have generally better color and sharpness. I also like to blow up to Super 8R

Selphy is good for instant print - hot favorite at family gatherings and parties. The 4-UP and 8-UP printing is also cool.
