Default Taking photos of the sun; technique? protection?

I have been interested in incorporating the sun into some of my photos. Other then the risks to your eyes, what are the risks to your camera of taking photos of the sun directly? i use UV filters but i am not sure if it would be safe to directly focus and take photos of the sun in relation to it damaging the camera's sensor, lens, or autofocus motor?

Also, what are some techniques of taking photos of the sun in relation to getting a good photo. eg. star filters? aperture? anything? any advice would be appreciated.

try search the forum, i think in general technique section, have discussed a lot. for me, usually if the sun is just rise /going to set, with fast shutter speed (say 1/100 above) should fine.
