Does anyone in the forum own the Pentax 12-24mm lens? Searching the forum didn't produce any results on past discussions. If so, could you share your experience with us? Also, I realised that the local retailers do not carry the product so I'm thinking of ordering it from B&H, but I'm concerned about the availability of internation warranty. Again, does anyone know how the warranty works? Thanks a million in adv!

If Emjay priced it right, get a local copy!

Thanks for the quicky response! I'll definitely first wait for the local stock to arrive, but do you have any idea how long it generally takes to ship lenses from US&A? I'm intending on a vacation in Europe in mid-May, so I'll make an overseas order if there's no news from Emjay.

in total should be about 1 week or so.. OT: lol @ US&A.. very nais. |

cos i no budget for the new cam.. If wait for it means 2010 then i can buy XD unless u mean wait for it to launch then get k20d for cheaper.. dont think it will drop much more to justify me waiting. Anw the k20d is more camera than i can deal with for now, so many more functions than k100d!

FotoCLS here in JB has it too. Retail at RM2999. Probably can get it around RM2.5k or less.

I am using the Samsung version of the 12-24mm Schneider Vario-Xenon. An excellent lens , reasonably sharp and yield beautiful colours. Got it used from a private seller in Malaysia. If you have the 40mm and 70mm pancake, this 3-lens is a great combo outfit. The GX-20 Body has excellent IQ on the menu set-up, so much simpler and easier than my Nikon.

Sorry... Couldn't wait for it as I'd be leaving Singapore very shortly, but I bought it from CP thanks to aosis's tip off. The odd thing is, they didn't know that they had a 12-24 in stock and gave me a straight NO the first time round without hesitation. They only checked after I asked them if they were absolutely sure. It makes me question the salesmen's dedication to their job of selling the lenses. Don't get me wrong though... The staff are absolutely friendly. Anyway, I like every bit of the lens but the extra coverage needs a bit of getting used to. Gonna exercise my creative juices with this lens while travelling.
Any tips from the old birds on using this lens or similar ones? Thanks! |
