Default Nikkor AF DX 10.5mm f/2.8 ED Fisheye Lense

For those interested, the new Nikkor AF DX 10.5mm f/2.8 ED Fisheye Lense is out. Price around S$1.1k thereabouts.

Initial impressions, extremely light and fast autofocus. It focus down to 14cm!

A very tempting piece of eye (fisheye).

1100-1200 sounds reasonable.

But must see for myself first. Thanks for the news.

Tested in the shop. Lens is pretty well-built, not plasticky. Rather small and cute. Being a fisheye, quite a large amount of barrel distortion for that "fisheye effect". Almost 180° field of view on a D100.

Impratical to use on a film body like mine.

Faces were tearing back and with large big grins.

Horrible stuff.

Not exactly. But I guess in another way, you can put it that way.

It's the distortion, it's unnatural.

Well, they did say that with the minimum focus distance of 0.14m (5.5"), it would produce "interesting" pictures . Better not take an image of a woman smiling, later she accuse you of taking a picture that makes her "jia xi ang"

See some samples in DP Review. Very nice for parties, events, etc.

Nikon designed it for use on the DX format DSLRs.

The lens is fun, but that's about it for me. Dun think I need it.

Minimum focussing distance is actually measured from film plane to subject. So including lens and camera, yeah, possibly what you get.

It is a full frame fish eye to replace the 16mm for use on Nikon DX digital cameras so that you get a full fish eye effect.
