Although most of the day i'm will use a better tripod, but this Slik 340 is used for my recent oversea trip. Cheap, relatively light and stable. My heaviest setup during my trip is D700 + 85mmPC Macro, So far no problem with stability. Last edited by Leong23; 25th April 2009 at 07:19 PM. |

Thx bro Leong!
That's very encouraging ! might consider to get that but my only concern is the height ? i tink it is kind of short right ? and when D700 pack with 70-200mm ... i doubt can take it ? Any more recommendation ? Thx Fuji

you are welcome, once and for all get the best.
I always as the 1st thing, what are you going to use it for specifically, meaning studio/indoor, outdoor local or overseas, for macro/landscape etc... the more details you provide i hope i can help you to choose a suitable tripod. ![]() |

![]() If you just need a decent tripod for general usage and don't really mind the weight of non-CF. Maybe can slightly increase your budget and get the Manfrotto 190XPRO + 488RC4, this will cost you around $300+ and will last you for years. For my more heavier setup, i'm using Gitzo GT2541EX + KC NB2-A. |

Silk is only good for light setup and travelling. You might want to go down to CP at Pen. to try out both tripod before committing, nothing beat by bringing down your gear and tryout both tripod side to side. |

How about manfrotto 055CXPRO4, 488RC4? Izzit can hold D700 with 70-200mm F2.8 VR?

dont forget an important part as well, the tripod head. if you want a cheap alternative, can go for an old school tripod like MIJ Slik U212 which emphasizes strength and durability over weight savings. For the head get a good one as cheaper ones have quirks that may be problematic if know what to look for. a $200 budget is a good start for a heavyweight rig.
if the total weight if the camera setup is like 2kg or less and you are not too picky on the branding, the benro or yongnuo offerings are adequate.
