    Acer tends to offer better bang for buck imo.

    I personally have had zero problems with mine and it aint a high end model. Just a modest travelmate 4720. 2 Acers in the family, a 6 year old travelmate and a 1 year old one, both have functioned admirably.

    How you maintain and treat your laptopo also matters , more important than what brand it is imo.

    My aunt uses a Dell XPS, another nice laptop that looks good and performs well, price is rather ok as well iirc
