Anyone use this lens and have opinion about this lens?
For about the same price, I could choose between Nikkor AFD 35mm f2 or AFD 28mm f2.8. I prefer a bigger aperture than a wider angle. |

Nikkor 50mm f1.4 is now made in China, I would have bought it if it is made in Japan.

Astin, with your preference of shooting, I think 35mm f/2 is more for you. You don't shoot landscape or architecture much right?
![]() And don't be bothered with the 50mm f/1.8 or f/1.4 being made in China, they still use japanese parts? Like old heaven Comrade Deng said, "Be it a China lense or Japanese lense, a lense that can capture good pictures is a good lense." ![]() |

From what I gather:
1. the 35mm has very low distortion. 2. It is highly ranked against the 28mm 3. it would be equivalent to a 50mm when you use DSLR Here are some links that you may find useful in your consideration: http://www.photo.net/nikon/35-2/ http://www.photodo.com/prod/lens/nikkor.shtml#Nikkor http://www.photozone.de/2Equipment/easytxt.htm#F24 http://home.wanadoo.nl/pmj/normal_lens.html |

Astin, I agree with pcman. Go for the 50/1.4. Fast and sharp lens.
See my gallery for samples taken with this lens: http://sfhuang.clubsnap.org/gallery/album03 |

Actually I have analysed my shots so far, (using some engineering analytical skill), I have shot about 5k+ photos using 24-85mm zoom, I found most times I shot full body at around 35mm focal length. I believe a prime 35mm have better colour control and higher contrast than a zoom.
