This is pretty amazing, recently I was checking Amazon after reading up on Pentax dropping their RRP of the K20D to an amazing 799 RRP. Looking around at street prices, it's like hovering around US$600-US$700, which is pretty damn amazing to me for a camera of this caliber. I wonder if Emjay will be able to give a deal as good as this?

No way less than 1k sgd.. Cheapest online is 670usd, after shipping n gst will be above 1.1k sgd. About to pull the trigger on k20d tonight, hopefully the price doesnt tumble anytime soon, if not i'll bang wall..

Or wait for the K7 or whatever to be announced. Then K20D may come down in price somemore. I made the 'mistake' of getting my K100Ds just a month before the launch of the K200D/K20D. :P

Hi Pentaxians,
you should also know that websites like Amazon source from a wide range of suppliers like resellers of of refurbished sets, stock clearance sales etc. Also, the price for this set quoted is only the base price before you add all the plus signs that bump up the final price right? |

actually b&h and adorama are selling for abt 670usd nett with free shipping for their domestic buyers. Of course, it wld be unreasonable to expect our local shops to sell at tt price or lower due to smaller volume of sales and higher overhead costs compared to the large online retailers. But that shd not be used as an excuse to overcharge like in the past, since alternative sources are rather easily available.

Given that the importing price for K20 d after GST, freght, cost adds up to say $1100 for example, probably I wouldn't mind buying locally if the price is 10 percent more if I could test, meddle and fiddle with the camera. If local price is too much a difference, then importing from overseas becomes a norm.

If you buy from Amazon, Emjay will sure not support right?
Anyway I doubt the price will drop any further esp if the so called K7 is going to be Pro-level. Maybe when there is a KXXD then the K20D will drop further. If the format of their naming convention is anything to go by, it will be similar to Canon. Example - If the Canon 500D comes out it will not affect the 50D or the 5DMKII price. Similarly when K-M came out it did not affect K20D price. right? |

Emjay, will you be servicing int'l warranties, like shriro and most distributors?
I'm not sure that the k7d will be a 'pro level' body.. I think it's a 'revolution' of the advanced amateur body, while the k20d was more of an 'evolution' of the k10d. The naming convention raises questions though.. 3 generations later and we'll hit the k10d already lol! what will nikon call the d90 successor? Regardless, i don't think the current online usa prices can drop much further. Brick n mortar shops and of course our local prices have plenty of room for adjustment!
