Not exactly, some of their lenses are actually cheaper than the other brands. Anyway Nikon uses Sony sensors in their cameras so maybe you should not buy Nikon too.

    Hi,

I think it will be good if you can lay your hands and try on both systems as jnet6 and diver-hloc commented. Both systems are equally good. It is the features (looks wise too) that attract supporters.

Canon has a show room in Vivo city while Nikon in IBM building (Tanjong Pajar - Not sure whether can try the cameras). Play around with the features and see if you like to photo quality (comparable with lenses of same range).

Ultimately, the output of of the photo can be a deciding factor.

Went to check on the D90 today but before doing that drop by sony and manhandled the A350, like the grip and weight. Then tried the D90, similar grip and weight which is much to my preference.

But like some bros here recommend to follow what most my friends having. Ask ard most of them are with Canon. Dilemma I would be the odd one out.

Seriously i prefer the D90, the grip suits my fingers.

Get the D90 then. No need to be the same as your friends as you will make new friends along the way. Afterall, photography has nothing to do with having the same system as people around you. I have friends using Canon, Nikon, Sony and Olympus.

Seriously beside the ergonomics and the function.. did it come across the image output from the different brands? The lens system and flash system you going to get in future?

If you are my close friend or relative.. i would ask you to get D90.. But you are not..So go with your heart and get what you want.

    450d vs d90

    http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/comp...n_d90&show=all

If you are comparing these two. Definity the d90 is a much better choice in terms of specs.
The d90 kit (18-105 vr) seems like a nice range for beginners. And you could record HD video through the lens. (Manual focus tho, pardon me if I'm wrong.) Just add another 50mm f1.8 prime lens for portraits shots or so.

While the 450d is gonna be replaced soon. The price is going to dip a little I guess.

Don't worry! You can be the odd one out!
My papa and brother are leica film users while my mum's a canon user!
    Whereas i chose Nikon!
The D90 is a good choice but the kit lens may not be as good.
However you can stick with it till you decide on a better one!
Hope i was of any help.

After deciding, now the buying part, where to buy. Have called up most of the shop recommended here got quotes between $1660 to $1730 for D90 kit 18-105mm + 4GB. More headaches coming.

    Including freebies!
It may also be because he bought things from him before.

Classic question. In my last event, a sweet someone asked me if she should get Nikon or Canon, the guys told her she's going to start a debate there, I added or worse, a fight Canon VS Nikon hahaha.

Honestly I've had both before, both are good. But are you good? If so, who cares what brand

Do not spend too much time on brandings. Haven't bought first DLSR want to start comparing. TThe time will come when you will campare them yourself without asking.

I suggest getting the Sigma. Can?

I had this dilemma about 5 years ago. Canon or Nikon?

I like Fuji, but their cam body release is very infrequent and no entry level model, plus speed side (fps) it is a bit low compared to the rest. I like pentax pancake lenses but so many shops dont sell this brand.

In the end I compare pictures and I got Olympus cos I like the colour and overall package.

    1. Lenses - bet. nikon and canon, which is more expensive?
    2. Which one has a better resale value in body and lenses?
    3. Which service ctr more friendlier?

    Thks in advance.
possibly flammable topic to touch on.
anw i am not a pro but still i am gonna give my opinion

i find that your comparison is a little unfair to start with
you are comparing between 450D (entry-level) and D90 (semi-pro if i am not wrong)
so functions wise you should OBVIOUSLY go for D90

    1. Nikon lenses are a little bit more expensive.
    2. I am going to go with Nikon for BODY. not too sure about lenses.
    3. HAHAHAHA. i have no idea. but it also comes down the the person serving you.
