I don't have the GPS unit in my D90. However, I use manual Geo-coding in ViewNX whenever I feel like it. The downside is that this is limited to one image at a time.

As said before, it'll help if you could explain your setup and requirement a bit more in detail.

We asked because there are different kinds of GPS equipment. Some do not have any direct interaction with the camera while others are connected to the camera and communicate with it allowing the GPS data to be automatically recorded into the EXIF info of each image as they are shot and recorded to the memory card. If yours is the first kind, then the GPS data would have to be manually synched and recorded to each images on the PC when you are back home.

The other thing is that your comment that "i cant seem to be able it to have it show it's location in on a digital map like google map" is confusing. The GPS unit can't show it's location on a digital map. A unit like yours can only enable the images to be recorded with GPS data such that they could show their location when viewed on a GPS-enabled mapping software like Google Map or online photo galleries like pbase.

I have a similar setup as yours... I am using a di-GPS Pro with a D700 and have no problem embedding the GPS data into each image once the unit is connected to the camera and communication is established. The images will show up 'pinned' to the Google Map when viewed in software that's GPS capable and are using Google Map. Nikon's ViewNX that comes with all Nikon DSLRs is GPS capable and would show your geo-tagged images on Google Map if you apply the 'Geo Tag' function for example.

So what's your problem with your setup exactly? Are the GPS data not being recorded into the EXIF of each image? Did you check the EXIF to see if the GPS data is inside? Or are you saying that you cannot get the di-GPS Pro L to communicate with your D3?

    lol..
i get what u guys mean.
ya..my question is kind of misleading too.

so far,all my pics r geo tagged with the GPS data via di-GPS Pro L.
but i cant have the images shown it's location on Google Map

I have capture NX2.but i dont think it's has a 'Geo Tag' function tho.

    quick update.
ok i got a copy of viewNX.
but it only shows my loc within the software itself.

if my friends wants to view the loc on a map while looking @ the photo via hosting sites,is that possible?

It is possible if the hosting site supports GPS.
For example, check out one of my galleries here in pbase..
    http://www.pbase.com/pschia/huanglong

Select the photo, click on 'View Map' and viola

Another hosting site that supports GPS where you can upload and let your friends view your photos and their locations is Panoramio.
    http://www.panoramio.com/

    Example: http://www.panoramio.com/photo/21557130

pbase is a great local hosting site.
too bad i find it abit expensive n they dont disable right clicking.

    panoramio looks good.
but can only upload the pics 1 by one.
    not very effective.

Panoramio is free with up to 2G of storage.
Just be more selective and upload only the best pics for your friends to view.
