Yesterday was in Courts, just happen saw the 50D & E-30 displayed side by side, so I stop & compare the 2.
a sales guy approached, chat with him & he recommend me nikon 300d. compare all 3, he claimed d-50 is considered canon's failure product, worst iso (noisy), worst colour, worst built quality & most important worst auto focus (not only 50d, but is canon problem). I did not see the 300d, but agreed that e-30 has a more solid body compare to 50d. and seems that the flip-lcd & built-in image stabilizer is a good selling points too. I quite like the e-30 in fact. may consider it for my up grade in near future. any bros got other opinion? I will also ask the same question the the canon section to get some different opinion. thanks. Vin |

I suppose your 300d is Nikon D300 ba... I've got not much technical knowledge on the 3 cam cuz I din use any of it b4.
Generally, Olympus con side is the low-lighting problem becuz of the high ISO noise due to the sensor size and lack of processing technology. Other then the con, the rest... humph ![]() I claim, Olympus, myself to be the best !!! hahaha. Opps... Your same post to canon and nikon will be totally different frm my comment!!! hahaha

Use your mind to go thru the spec to decide what is all there that you want. Go to the shop to feel for yourself the handling. Look into your wallet to see which one it can take.

Hi vpsk01,
What are you looking at? When we buy SLR, we normally look into the system, meaning the availability of lens, flash, overall features rather than body alone. If you are looking into shooting architecture stuff, E-system do not have TS lens. You will have to do it digitally. If you want quality travel combo, E-30/E-620 with 12-60 is a great one, although a bit ex and on the heavy side. For cheaper options to start in terms of portrait/model shoot, I personally feel that Canon/Nikon have the upper hand here, with Nikon overall better. But Canon's sensor got people say not good on colour. Nikon is said to more warm while E-system is more neutral. Portrait lens are rather limited on E-system, but it should not deter how one create pictures in a controlled environment. If you are just a casual user, then any one will do and you do not even need an E-30, maybe E-620 will be more than enough. No point buying something so powerful and not put to good use. |

hey bro...
get an e-30. it's good. lightweight body + good picture quality, less noise even at night.. + bright quality at night. 50D is not like what that promoter said, but i would still recommend the e-30, cuz im using that too now.. lols i was between the decision of 50D and e-30 the other day.. and i chose e-30, till now, i haven't regret getting that olympus e-30 ![]() |

Not sure the spec for e30 and 50d are about the same.
Look at those features unique to each cam. E30 have a few good features example art filter, aspect ratio, multi-exposure..etc. Do you need these features? You have to try out these cam. Take a few shoots, compare the picture, feel the weight, sound of shuttle, location of control buttons... these are some of the things that one will differentiate which is suitable. No such thing as the best camera. ![]() Last edited by viperho; 22nd April 2009 at 07:38 AM. |
