Default digital ice

For all its trumpeted ability on scratch/dust/etc removing, am I the only one that is finding that it is somehow mysteriously clipping my extreme shadow details and turning them into black clumps?

am i doing something wrong or is there a fault in the software somewhere?

C-41 processed B&W film (eg Kodak BW400CN) can be scanned with Digital ICE turned on.
