Believe it or not, you do not actually need a driver's license to own a car. My first car was waiting for me at the dealership for a couple of months because I took 3 attempts to pass....

    Oh, it was a Nissan S13 200SX.

Well, my first car was rammed from behind because some idiot two cars behind who didn't see all of us slow down to a stop. I was the middle car in the 5-car sandwich.

In my 3rd car I had to swerve to avoid a car on the NS-Highway that had just ploughed into the central divider... skidded and clipped a truck on the side as a result.

My hubby and me bought a Hyundai Matrix as our first car... it was OK as a first car but gave us problems nearing to the 3rd year. So sold it and got an Alfa Romeo 156 instead...

Has the 156 fared better? Have heard many Alfa horror stories... but I think it probably got better with the 156.

I've not tried an Italian car yet, is the Alfa a reliable car?

    Got any eccentricities?

What is Subaru RX? Is it the Leone? Which year was that?

    Is it this one?

We've had our 156 for the past 4+ years. It's not given us any problems so far. We're very happy with it, and will probably be keeping it for another 5 years until the full 10 years. =) I think the Alfa used to be unreliable in the past. But the recent ones are pretty OK..

camry is basic sedan?? won't a corolla or sunny be more suited to being called a "basic family sedan"?

yeah, it's a basic family sedan (for australia). 2.4L, 4 cyl, decent fuel economy, loads of inside room and good boot space.
