Default Noob question on the beercan

Hey bro..just asking...is the 55-200mm beercan a better lens to get than the 75-300mm lens tat comes wit the package? i mean the former range is much shorter rite..

Yes, it is better. It is sharper and has a constant F4 aperture.

55-200mm beercan? The only beercan I know is 70-210mm.

yes, SAL55200 is not beercan. I have both SAL55200 and SAL75300, they serve different purpose

If you think you want faster shutter speeds and nicer bokeh, get the beercan.

Otherwise, sticking with 75-300mm would just work as a telephoto do.

the beercan is definitely better
but wayyy heavier than the 75-300

Sorry, but how different are 55200 and 75300, except for the tele range ?

The 70-210mm beercan lens is a legend and Minolta made this same lens for Leica. The colours and bokeh from this lens is awesome. I guess the lens construction and coating is different from the 75-300mm unless you're comparing with the big beercan.

best is go alpha outing then ask from one of the bros to let you try try the beercan

Quite same, I only use them in different purpose. 55200 more to 'activities', and 75300 more to nature (including zoo and JBP).
But to make things more complicated, I favor 75300 than 55200. I found my 75300 more colorful than 55200. Yep, at least that I found in my copy...
