Default Erasing a Mini DV tape using a degausser.

Anyone ever use a hard disk degausser to erase used Mini DV tapes? I read somewhere it can be done. I'm asking because I have a degausser in my office store so it may save me time. Is a degausser hazardous to health?

haha, it's just a very strong and big electromagnet. so depends on what's your take on electromagnetic field. Like some people don't like staying near transformers (not the robots). But i guess it should be fine. It's not like you are going to on it 24/7. You wun become magneto or what i guess...

Degausser uses a very strong alternating magnetic field to "erase" the recorded magnetic field (video / audio signal).
