hi mate,
can anyone suggest me a lens with big aperture F2.8 at least for wide angel and general user for tamron or tokina model? aiming for any tough build model i am looking at the range from 10mm to 85mm, not sure what is the closest range that i can get from tamron model? budget would probably not more than $700, new or old minty condition lens. my primary usage is still prime lens, purpose of getting this zoom lens is really for general landscape shoot and general usage. kim

If you want f/2.8 you will not be able to find one zoom to cover that range. Tokina has a 11-16mm and a 16- 50mm and then a 50- 135mm all at f/2.8. I own the wider and longer of these three. http://www.bythom.com/tokinadb.htm
The widest f/2.8 Tamaron I see is a 17- 50mm. They also have 28- 75mm. http://www.tamron.com/lenses/prod/fast_zooms.asp

go for Tamron 17-50mm its
as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words: http://www.flickr.com/photos/nschaden/1332341897/ i'd like to call it a 'hybrid' lens. not exactly a dedicated UWA lens, but then its wide enuf to shoot. for eg: 3 generations family photo in a living room. u do not need to knock down a wall to do this. ![]()
