Default DSLR owners - please login here (Poll started 3 Nov 2003)

Updating poll on # of DSLR users in ClubSNAP. Just for informational purposes.

Others = any other DSLRs discontinued or not in mainstream eg Contax N Digital.

Suggest add an option for Olympus E10/E20/E1... considered mainstream right?

Good point - will add in Olympus E1.

Not sure about Olympus E10/E20 - my definition of DSLRs are that they have interchangeable lenses.

yah, agree with Darren. technically, the E10/20 series are classified as "ZLRs" (zoom lens reflex)

Actually, technically and by definition, you're both wrong.

An SLR is a single lens reflex camera, and the E10 and E20 are both single lens reflex cameras.

They are also both digital, so there is absolutely no reason whatsoever why they don't qualify as DSLRs.

In theory, you could only omit them if your poll was for Digital SLRs that accepted interchangeable lenses. Which it isn't.

In the interest of completeness and since I did not specify lens-interchangeable criteria in my initial poll, have added the E10/E20 into the mix.

It doesn't?

Darren, hey I'm not asking you to include them, just that Larry was being "technical" so I was just being "technical" in return.

Eh Larry? *nudge*

hehheh... actually it wasn't my term. it was something coined by Olympus themselves to differentiate the E10/20 from SLRs...

from Steve's Digicams...
"ZLR - Zoom Lens Reflex, a term coined by Olympus to describe their fixed mount lens SLR type cameras. An SLR camera has interchangeable lenses, a ZLR has a non-removeable zoom lens."
http://www.steves-digicams.com/digi_dictionary.html

eh Jed? *nudge nudge wink wink*

Firstly, that's Steve's Digicams, not Olympus.

Secondly, see the part I've highlighted in bold. It's still an SLR.

300D garnered almost 20% of the votes within 2.5 months of release.... wonder how well the D70 will do next year.
